Tyrone Heade
is the Cathedralx Bagpiper in Residence for St. James Cathedral (since 1990), the seat of the Archdioceses of Western Washington, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral (since 1993).  Tyrone developed both residencies. View his resume or a sampling of his performance clients.

Playing his Grandfathers' pipe full-time since 1994, Tyrone has become a noted performer, instructor, published composer, and soloist with First Places in Glasgow and New York. He won the World Solo Amateur Championship, Piobaireachd, in 2009.

He is Pipe-Major of Seattle's Elliott Bay Pipe Band, leader of Iona Abbey, an acoustic ensemble featuring Scottish Small (Chamber) Pipes.  A long-time voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science (Grammy's), Tyrone serves on the Board of the Celtic Arts Foundation, and has led the development of a world-class faculty for the Mastery of Scottish Arts Winter School since its beginning in 1995.  Feel free to browse a few remarks from his piping students here.
