When Tyrone was nine years old, his grandmother gave him his grandfathers' pipe; they were brought with them to America when the family immigrated in 1923.  The pipe, in its case, had sat in an exterior Oregon garage for around 30 years.  When the case was opened, the scent was reminiscent of the frogs Tyrone was busy raising at the time.

Inside the case were the pipes, practice chanter, the hose from his Granddad's uniform, a hand-written book of pipe band music, two faded photos and two books of pipe music from 1917.  The woodcuts on this page came from one of those books, by David Glen of Edinburgh.
